May 10, 2017 – Deacon Donald Myers of Westminster was officially installed as the Associate Chaplain at Carroll Lutheran Village on Sunday, May 7 by the Rev. William Gohl, Bishop of the Delaware-Maryland Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
Myers was called to service as Associate Chaplain in October 2016 after earning a Master of Arts degree in ministerial studies with a concentration in pastoral care from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. He was consecrated as a Deacon in the ELCA on October 23, 2016.
In addition to ministering to Village residents and assisting with worship services, Myers has developed a music program to include a Festival Choir and is coordinating Stephen Ministers on campus.
Myers is a former music educator and local business owner. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in music education from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and taught instrumental music in Carroll County Public Schools for several years before becoming manager and co-owner of Stu’s Music Shop in Westminster at the age of 24. The business was sold in 2013.
