January 29, 2016 – It’s been two years since Carroll Lutheran Village held a Chef’s Soup Challenge, but the event returned on January 26. Once again Village chefs were put to the test, challenged to stir up some new and tasty soups for a good cause, bragging rights and a place on the CLV menu.
Eight members of the Dining Services team developed soup recipes to be taste-tested. Residents, staff and guests paid $10 per ticket to participate in the tasting and awarded points for their favorites.
Amy Frederick, a cook supervisor, defended her 2014 title with her recipe for Shrimp Chowder. Her Southern Chicken Corn Chowder won the 2014 Soup Challenge. The Shrimp Chowder will also be added to the menu at Carroll Lutheran Village.
A total of $1,130 was raised from ticket sales to benefit the Resident Assistance Fund at the Village, which assists residents with financial need.
