September 18, 2015 – As construction of The Lutheran Village at MILLER’S GRANT nears completion, pre-occupancy home reservations have reached 97% with fewer than ten homes remaining in inventory. “The tremendous response demonstrates that people are enthusiastic about the lifestyle that we’re offering at MILLER’S GRANT,” said President and CEO Geary Milliken. “Adults ages 60 and better can expect resort-style amenities, an emphasis on health and wellness, and accessibility to a higher level of care if and when it is needed.”
The Lutheran Village at MILLER’S Grant, which is sponsored and operated by Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, is the first continuing care community to be built in Howard County since 1990. It will allow seniors to transition seamlessly from independent living to in-home care, assisted living or skilled nursing as their health care needs change. Residents of The Lutheran Village at MILLER’S GRANT will be encouraged to participate in the community’s holistic wellness program Flourish. The program focuses on the six dimensions of wellness—physical, social, spiritual, vocational, emotional and intellectual—to enable residents to live an active and multi-dimensional life.
The Lutheran Village at MILLER’S GRANT sits on 50-acres along Frederick Road in Ellicott City adjacent to the Charles E. Miller branch of the Howard County Public Library and the Howard County Senior Center. The community will feature 241 apartments and single-family and duplex homes, and a state-of-the-art care center, all designed to evoke a sense of neighborhood. The care center will include 20 suites for assisted living and 12 skilled nursing beds. Occupancy is expected to begin in early 2016.
Harkins Builders in Marriottsville is the general contractor for the site work, apartment buildings, care center and common areas. Williamsburg Homes in Columbia is constructing the freestanding homes in the community.
