August 15, 2015 – Carroll Lutheran Village celebrated the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II on August 14 with the Spirit of 45 ALIVE!
The evening began at 7:00 p.m. with a full-fledged patriotic parade on campus featuring 32 of 44 resident World War II veterans riding in vintage cars or convertibles driven by CLV staff or volunteers. After the parade an overflow crowd moved into Krug Chapel Auditorium for a program that included prayer, recognition of all WWII veterans present, patriot music provided by the Westminster Municipal Band, a re-enactment of the kiss between the sailor and the nurse that has come to symbolize the end of the war, and an address by the Rev.
