February 8, 2016 – After nearly a decade of planning, The Lutheran Village at MILLER’S GRANT opened its doors and welcomed its first residents on February 8. Four households took possession of their apartments in the first building to open on the 50-acre campus along Frederick Road in Ellicott City.
The property is adjacent to the Charles E. Miller branch of the Howard County Public Library and the Ellicott City Senior Center. The campus will include a pub, casual and formal dining spaces, a Wellness Center with fitness center and classes, salon, community spaces and tennis court. An indoor pool is also planned. A foot bridge connects the MILLER’S GRANT property to the library and senior center for easy access.
Phyllis Mazer, who selected MILLER’S GRANT as her future home in September 2011, was one of the first to move in on February 8. “I knew I wanted to move just once,” she said. “Since MILLER’S GRANT offers all three stages of care, I won’t ever have to move again.”
The Lutheran Village at MILLER’S GRANT is developed and operated by Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, a faith-based not-for-profit continuing care retirement community with 35-years of experience.
Residents will continue to move in to the first building throughout February. The second building will open in March, and the third will begin move-ins in April. Occupancy of individual homes on campus will begin in March. Construction and move-ins will continue through early summer, with the final move-ins expected in the fall.
Gene and Donna Streagle are looking forward to their move in March and the lifestyle that they will soon enjoy. “I raked my last leaf before we moved in,” said Gene, “ I propped that rake up when I was done and thought about how great it would be to never do that again.”
Presently, MILLER’S GRANT is 95% reserved with only a few apartments available. When complete, The Lutheran Village at MILLER’S GRANT will offer 205 apartments and 36 duplex and single-family homes plus a high care center with 20 assisted living suites and 12 skilled nursing beds.
