June 11, 2015 – More than 65 volunteers were honored at a luncheon on June 11 for documenting more than 100 hours of volunteerism within Carroll Lutheran Village and/or the broader community.
All 66 volunteers invited to the event recorded at least 100 volunteer hours within calendar year 2014, making them eligible for the President’s Volunteer Service Award. The award, created in 2003 by President George W. Bush, recognizes the valuable contribution that volunteers make.
In 2014, about 370 individuals and groups documented nearly 25,000 hours of volunteer service – anywhere from 30 minutes to more than 1,000 hours each. The 66 volunteers who attended the luncheon contributed more than 13,000 of those hours!
