CLV Nurse Elected President of Infection Control Association
January 2, 2018 – Mary Lou Tindale of Westminster has been elected President of the DELMARVA Chapter of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), which serves Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. Tindale is the Employee Health Nurse and Infection Preventionist at Carroll Lutheran Village.
The organization works to prevent infection by educating health care professionals on how to provide care in a way that will promote better health at a lower cost. Most APIC members are nurses, physicians, public health professionals, epidemiologists, and microbiologists.
New regulations from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid require that an antibiotic stewardship program be in place for long-term care service providers. The organization is active in helping to educate health care professionals about the new regulations and ways to achieve compliance.
Tindale has been a nurse at Carroll Lutheran Village since 2004, serving in several leadership roles including Resident Care Supervisor and Director of Nursing.
Carroll Lutheran Village is an accredited, not-for-profit continuing care retirement community in Westminster with approximately 700 residents in 398 homes and apartments, 50 assisted living suites in the Diven House and 103 skilled nursing beds in the Health Care Center.
