Community Giving

Carroll Lutheran Village is dedicated to caring for seniors. Since 1980, we have provided health care services and living options that support andSupporting and caring enrich the journey of aging.

Medicaid, social security and other government reimbursements rarely cover care costs. Your donation(s) support our mission of providing high-quality care to residents who have depleted their financial resources, due to unexpected circumstances. With your help, these wonderful residents receive the high-level of service they deserve, bringing peace to them and their families in a community they love and call home.

Benevolent care is an assurance that each day residents who need our help will continue to receive the exceptional care they deserve, in a community they love and call home. For family members, this promise of security is a great comfort and provides peace of mind.

Each gift we receive, regardless of size, makes a profound difference in the lives of many residents and is deeply appreciated.

The Joy of Giving

You have several options to support our mission when making a gift to Carroll Lutheran Village. By exploring-without obligation-all the gift vehicles available to you, you will discover ways to support our mission, while enjoying personal and financial benefits as well. Various options allow you to make a larger gift than you could otherwise make, provide life income, and offer tax benefits.

Gifts to the Ministry of Caring Endowment Fund help support our mission of providing charitable ministry to residents who have depleted their financial resources, due to unexpected circumstances, and can no longer afford the full cost of health care services. Gifts to this fund are primarily earmarked for future residents in need.

However, if you’d rather see your gift used right away, then a current-year gift to the Benevolent Care Fund will be used in the year in which it is received. Your annual gift to the Benevolent Care Fund will be used in the year in which it is received. Your annual gift to the Benevolent Care Fund will help make up the difference between what Carroll Lutheran Village spends on benevolent care and what the Ministry of Caring Endowment Fund’s investment income provides.

Both funds are vitally important for our ministry because every dollar you provide can immediately help offset the rising costs of benevolent care.

Ways to Support Carroll Lutheran Village

An annual day of fun at The Links at Gettysburg golf course to help support our mission to raise money for residents in need. The golf tournament generates annual income that directly supports our Ministry of Caring Endowment Fund (resident assistance), which enables residents to remain at Carroll Lutheran Village if they have outlived their financial resources, through no fault of their own, so they can continue receiving ongoing care and the best possible quality of life. Over the years, the golf tournament has raised over $1.6 million toward this fund.

A gift by bequest can be designed when writing your will or by adding a codicil to your existing will. A bequest can be a fixed amount, a percentage of your estate, or the residual value of your estate. A bequest can be designated for a specific purpose or to be added to the Ministry of Caring Endowment or Benevolent Care Funds.

Consider gifting retirement assets by designating Carroll Lutheran Village as the beneficiary of your retirement account. If you have not yet taken your required minimum distribution (RMD) from your traditional IRA, you may want to consider a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) as a way to support the good works of Carroll Lutheran Village while at the same time reducing your taxes. For income tax purposes, making a QCD with your RMD is a powerful planning tool because it allows you to reduce your taxable income and take the full standard deduction (if you are not otherwise itemizing your deductions).

Many corporations and businesses match employee gifts of cash/securities up to a fixed amount. In many instances, gifts from retired employees also qualify for matching gifts. Check with your employer for a matching gift form or contact us for assistance.

Charitable gift Annuities (CGAs) are a very popular choice among donors. When you make a gift in the form of a CGA, you are guaranteed an annual income for life for you and/or for another person. Additionally, you receive a substantial income tax deduction in the year the gift is made, and a portion of the annual income you receive is tax-free.

Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) is a centralized charitable account. It allows charitably inclined individual, families, and businesses to make tax-deductible charitable donations of cash, publicly traded stock, and in some case, certain illiquid assets, to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program.

Securities and mutual funds are a favored gift choice because of the double tax benefit. It is important that you contact us so that we can assist you with transfer instructions. If you own securities in a brokerage account, we can help you set up an electronic transfer of the shares to our brokerage account. If you possess actual stock certificates, we can tell you how to sign the certificates over to us and fill out a stock power form.

Gifts of life insurance can be made by naming Carroll Lutheran Village as beneficiary, contingent beneficiary, or transferring ownership of a policy to Carroll Lutheran Village. In the latter case, you receive an income tax deduction for the cash surrender value and subsequent premiums.

Real estate and tangible personal property, can be donated to Carroll Lutheran Village. Because of the special considerations involved, we recommend you contact us to discuss your plans.

Note: Each person’s unique financial situation must be considered when making a gift and we strongly encourage you to discuss your gift options with your financial advisor and/or tax accountant. Information contained on this website should not be considered legal advice.
