Young hand holding old hand to support our mission

Community Giving

Carroll Lutheran Village is dedicated to caring for seniors. Since 1980, we have provided health care services and living options that support and enrich the journey of aging. Medicaid, social security and other government reimbursements rarely cover care costs. Your donation(s) supporting our mission helps us to continue to provide high-quality care to residents who have depleted their financial resources due to unexpected circumstances. With your help, these wonderful residents receive the high-level of service they deserve, bringing peace to them and their families in a community they love and call home.

Experience the Joy of Giving

According to Pablo Picasso, “The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” Experience that “warm glow” effect when you support our mission with a gift that supports our residents by giving to the following funds:

  • Ministry of Caring Endowment Fund
Gifts to this fund are earmarked for current and future residents. The investment income that is generated from the fund supports those residents who have depleted their financial resources, due to unexpected circumstances, and can no longer afford the full cost of health care services.
  • Benevolent Care Fund
Gifts made to this fund are used in the year in which they are received and support residents who are currently in need. Gifts to the Benevolent Care Fund help make up the difference between what Carroll Lutheran Village spends on benevolent care and the investment income the Ministry of Caring Endowment Fund provides.

Both funds are vitally important to support our mission because every dollar you provide immediately helps offset the rising costs of benevolent care. Your gift, regardless of the amount, makes a profound difference in the lives of many residents and is deeply appreciated.

A gift by bequest can be designed when writing your will or by adding a codicil to your existing will. A bequest can be a fixed amount, a percentage of your estate or the residual value of your estate. It can be designated for the Ministry of Caring Endowment Fund, Benevolent Care Fund or other purpose you specify.

Consider gifting retirement assets by designating Carroll Lutheran Village as the beneficiary of your retirement account. If you have not yet taken your required minimum distribution (RMD) from your traditional IRA, you may want to consider a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) as a means to support our mission while reducing your taxes at the same time. For income tax purposes, making a QCD with your RMD is a powerful planning tool because it allows you to reduce your taxable income and take the full standard deduction – if you are not itemizing your deductions.

Your employer may match your gifts of cash/securities up to a fixed amount even if you are retired. Check with your employer to learn if it will match your gift. If so, it will likely have a matching gift form that will need to be completed. If you have any questions, contact us for assistance.

When you make a charitable gift annuity you are guaranteed an annual income for life for you and/or another person. Additionally, you receive a substantial income tax deduction in the year the gift is made, and a portion of the annual income you receive is tax-free.

This centralized charitable account allows you, your family and your business to make tax-deductible charitable donation of cash, publicly traded stock and, in some cases, certain liquid assets to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program.

Securities and mutual funds are a favored gift choice because of the double tax benefit. If you are interested in this option, it is important you contact us so we can assist you with transfer instructions. If you own securities in a brokerage account, we can help you set up an electronic transfer of the shares to our brokerage account. If you possess actual stock certificates, we can tell you how to sign the certificates over to us and complete a stock power form.

Gifts of life insurance can be made by naming Carroll Lutheran Village as beneficiary, contingent beneficiary or transferring ownership of a policy to Carroll Lutheran Village. In the latter case, you receive an income tax deduction for the cash surrender value and subsequent premiums.

Real estate and tangible personal property, can be donated to Carroll Lutheran Village. Because of the special considerations involved, we recommend you contact us to discuss your plans.

NOTE: Each person’s unique financial situation must be considered when making a gift, and we strongly encourage discussing  gift options with a financial advisor and/or tax accountant. Information contained on this website should not be considered legal advice.
