We recently honored our team members while infusing $18,000 into the local economy to support local restaurants. Each week for five weeks, team members were provided with a boxed meal, totaling 1,500 meals from local restaurants.
Thanks to the generous contributions from residents and other donors to our COVID Cares Fund, the Philanthropy team saw an opportunity to thank team members and support local restaurants, which too have suffered during the pandemic. This creative idea of supporting the wider community is instinctive to CLV because community is one of our core values.
Ordering a meal for the whole team resulted in very sizable orders for those businesses. “To better accommodate the restaurants, meals were often staggered on specific days, and delivery times were adjusted to accommodate various shifts,” stated Janet Buchanan, vice president of philanthropy.
Team members enjoyed a variety of breakfast and deli sandwiches, subs, salads as well as vegetarian and gluten-free options from Rafael’s, Blue Bistro, Classico Pizzeria, Johansson’s and Hahn’s and cupcakes from Stonehouse Cakery & Café.
“Our team has shown tremendous commitment and dedication to our residents during this challenging time, and the local businesses who made this possible truly helped them feel appreciated,” said John B. Henry, executive director of Carroll Lutheran Village.
