The Village Quilters Awarded for Labor of Love

The Village Quilters recently received the Outstanding Resident Fundraiser Award by Lutheran Social Ministries of Maryland’s philanthropy team at Carroll Lutheran Village’s Annual Fund Campaign kick-off event. Their selfless commitment to fundraising has significantly impacted the CLV community and has helped advance the organization’s philanthropic mission.

The group of eight residents, including two Quilters Emeritus, have raised nearly $15,500 over the past nine years by raffling off quilts, hand made by them. The funds raised were donated to CLV’s Benevolent Care Fund, which provides vital assistance to residents who have outlived their financial resources due to unexpected circumstances. Their commitment, dedication and passion to the community is truly inspiring.

Deeply grateful and humbled by the recognition, The Village Quilters view their collective effort as a labor of love in supporting the entire community and are thankful to everyone who have contributed to their success over the years.

Residents, their families, team members and the public can expect more chances to win one of the coveted quilts. The Village Quilters are committed to continuing their work for the Benevolent Care Fund and hope to inspire others to get involved in their own way because the joy and fulfillment they have found in giving back and building connections is truly priceless.

“The Village Quilters dedication and creativity exemplify the spirit of philanthropy that thrives at CLV. Their contributions have not only provided financial support for the Benevolent Care Fund but have also strengthened the bonds within our community. Their legacy of generosity serves as an inspiration to us all,” said Emily McCoy Bish, director of philanthropy for CLV.

After learning The Village Quilters celebrate the completion of each quilt with a pizza party at Ledo’s Pizza, McCoy Bish shared the news with owners of the Ledo’s Pizza in Westminster. The next time they finish a quilt, the pizza party will be on Ledo’s Pizza.

The Outstanding Resident Fundraiser of the year award celebrates a group of residents who have shown exceptional dedication, passion and creativity in raising funds to benefit CLV residents or team members.

This award recognizes volunteers who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to generate support and awareness for a charitable initiative. The recipients of this award have demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation and perseverance in their fundraising activities, inspiring others to get involved and make a difference.
