Dave Bollinger received the Outstanding Community Philanthropist of the Year Award, at Carroll Lutheran Village’s Annual Fund Campaign kick-off event, in recognition for his commitment and dedication to volunteering for nearly three decades to support Carroll Lutheran Village. His contributions continue to impact and grow CLV and the wider community.
Among his many contributions to CLV, Bollinger helped organize and start the community’s annual golf tournament – its largest fundraiser for the past 26 years raising over $1.8 million for vital resident assistance – and is currently the chair of CLV’s board of trustees.
Bollinger started volunteering when he felt a deep obligation to the Greatest Generation. “These folks were my neighbors; I delivered their newspapers and mowed their lawns. They were my parent’s friends and coached my sports teams. They provided a safe community to grow up. They supported me, my family and my business. Many of these fine folks have passed. Now my generation occupies CLV. I need to continue to support my friends,” said Bollinger.
His passion for supporting the community where he lives and works goes beyond CLV and can be seen at Carroll Hospital Center, serving on its board of directors, and Carroll Community College, serving on its board of trustees.
“The selfless dedication and commitment he gives to the CLV community is inspiring. His philanthropic work and generosity have impacted many lives. We are so grateful for his work and passion to help others,” said Emily McCoy Bish, director of philanthropy for CLV.
Bollinger, a cattle farmer, is the president and commercial risk advisor for Barnes-Bollinger Insurance Services in downtown Westminster, a three-generation business started by his father, Edward O. Bollinger, and currently includes his daughter, Emily Bollinger Miller.
The Outstanding Community Philanthropist of the Year award honors an individual who has demonstrated exceptional generosity, leadership, volunteerism and commitment to making a positive impact on the Carroll County community through their philanthropic efforts.
This award recognizes a community leader who has shown exemplary dedication to building relationships, creating positive change within the community, and supporting charitable causes, organizations and initiatives that address important social issues and improve the lives of Carroll County residents and families.
“Dave’s leadership has been instrumental in helping to raise nearly $2 million to support our charitable mission to provide essential care and services for residents through the Benevolent Care Fund, offering assurance to residents and their families that they will continue to receive compassionate care and benevolence during times of need,” said Paige Mills-Haag, vice president of philanthropy for Lutheran Social Ministries of Maryland, the managing organization for CLV.
