Broiled Grapefruit Recipe

A broiled grapefruit on a plaid plateThis simple and easy broiled grapefruit recipe is a great source of vitamin C, and a delicious and healthy snack!

Broiled Grapefruit Instructions

  1. Cut a grapefruit in half, and cut 1/4 inch off the bottom of each half to stabilized the halves on a pan.
  2. Use a sharp paring knife to cut around the edges of the fruit, where it meets the rind. This will make it easier to remove the segments with a spoon once it is cooked.
  3. Then gently cut along the edges of the segments. Don’t cut all the way through, just to the rind if you can.
  4. Line a broiling or roasting pan with foil or parchment paper (foil works better; it does not burn).
  5. Place the halves, cut side up, on the pan.
  6. Spread about two to three teaspoons of brown sugar on each half of the exposed fruit (not the rind). Yellow grapefruit tends to be more sour than ruby red grapefruit, so you may want to use more sugar for yellow than for red grapefruit.
  7. Place under a broiler for three to five minutes, until the brown sugar is bubbly and beginning to brown and caramelize. Remove from oven. Let cool for a minute. Eat while still warm.
